Liquid Fleet has onboarded connected vehicle technology from Volteras as part of a strategic move to improve fleet efficiencies, optimise residual values, and reduce de-hire costs across its rental fleet.
The Volteras platform proactively captures odometer readings and vehicle location data, which is aggregated into a centralised online portal. Crucially, the system requires no additional hardware, instead integrating directly with vehicles’ in-built manufacturer systems.
Volteras currently maintains partnerships with 30 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and plans to expand this to 35 by Q1 2026. Liquid Fleet aims to deploy the Volteras platform across the majority of its 3,000-vehicle fleet by the same date.
Improved Residual Values and Proactive Servicing
Liquid Fleet believes the technology will play a key role in protecting manufacturers’ warranties, thereby improving vehicle residual values. Real-time access to mileage and location data allows the business to proactively manage servicing schedules, reducing the risk of missed services and associated end-of-contract charges.
The platform also enables Liquid Fleet to analyse usage patterns, helping customers identify which vehicles may be suitable for electrification.
Vehicle onboarding and disconnection is streamlined, requiring only the vehicle identification number (VIN) to be entered into the Volteras online portal.
Industry Insight
James Miller, Sales and Marketing Director at Liquid Fleet, commented:
“Our partnership with Volteras provides invaluable insight into how vehicles are driven and the types of journeys they are making. This allows Liquid Fleet to offer a genuinely consultative service, helping clients understand how and when to transition vehicles into electric.
“Having access to real-time mileage and location data means we can proactively contact customers to remind them when a service is due, rather than risk paying for missed servicing at the end of a contract.
“Presenting vehicles for sale in the used market with a complete service history and a valid manufacturer warranty automatically optimises residual values. This is worth hundreds of thousands of pounds to us every year.”
Liquid Fleet also works with Fleet Assist to arrange proactive servicing, maintenance and repair (SMR) services on behalf of customers, allowing them to focus on running their businesses while vehicle maintenance is managed centrally.
“Proactively managing servicing schedules removes a significant administrative burden for our customers,” Miller added. “Data is essential, but it is equally important how that data is collated and presented. This ensures every fleet decision is informed and aligned with both immediate and future requirements.”
Customer Access and Data Security
Two Liquid Fleet customers have already signed up to access real-time data for their rental vehicles, enabling more effective fleet management. Customers can view all available vehicle data points through the Volteras portal.
Chris Heddle, Head of Sales and Partnerships at Volteras, said:
“We have built partnerships with a wide range of OEM brands to access vehicle data through authorised application programming interfaces (APIs).
“These integrations are only possible through official OEM collaborations, with data transferred via secure, designated channels. This secure infrastructure ensures significantly improved data speed, stability and access to a broader range of data points — all without the need for additional hardware.”
